The holiday chilliness means the warm embrace of a loved one, delicious food, and arguably most important: giving season is here. Every year at MaxFund, we are lucky enough to be supported by an incredible community of donors and volunteers.

Why Give to MaxFund?

Since 1988, MaxFund has been supported on the community level. It is because of our impassioned community that we are able to give so many animals a second chance. Many of the animals we care for come from worser conditions, whether they’d been abandoned, abused, or injured. We strive to provide them the best possible care while they await their true companions, regardless of the level of care they require.

What is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday is a global nonprofit fundraising movement that has the has significantly transformed the way nonprofits and charitable organizations are able to further their mission in support of their chosen cause. Coloradan participation is a bit different, as we also have Colorado Gives Day the following week on Tuesday, December 9th.

How is it different from Colorado Gives Day?

Giving Tuesday is global, while Colorado Gives Day is local. The first week of December we celebrate Giving Tuesday with the rest of the world, as a way to raise money to further our capabilities for sheltering and caring for our MaxFund animals. Colorado Gives Day is the second Tuesday, December 9th, and is only celebrated by those who live in our Centennial state. Same premise, just more focused on our statewide charitable efforts.

The other big distinction between Giving Tuesday and Colorado Gives Day is the addition of the Incentive Fund towards MaxFund’s efforts. The Incentive Fund is unique to the Colorado Gives Day portal and acts as more of a “one for all” model, in the sense that each participating nonprofit in the Colorado Gives Day system gets a portion of this fund. More specifically, the total money raised in the CGD portal is tallied up, then divided by the percentage per organization, and then the money from the Incentive Fund is distributed based on that percentage. Here’s an example:

Let’s say, for example, out of all the donations entered in the Colorado Gives Day portal, 10% of those donations were made towards MaxFund. That would mean when the CGD portal closes, 10% of the additional Incentive Fund would go towards MaxFund’s fundraiser. So, by participating through the Colorado Gives Day portal, you’re maximizing the fundraising opportunities for our mission.

How to Participate in Both:

The best part about the Colorado Gives Day portal is that it is active all year and closes at the end of CGD, December 9th. Which means, if you want to participate in both Giving Tuesday and Colorado Gives Day, you can! Simply schedule your Colorado Gives Day donation on Giving Tuesday, it’s that simple.

How to Navigate the Colorado Gives Day Portal:

Want to give through the MaxFund CGD Portal, but not sure how? Follow these instructions on how to schedule your contribution:

How Do I Donate?

1. Visit MaxFund’s Colorado Gives Day portal here.
2. Click the “Donate” button.
3. Follow the instructions to make your contribution!

What Does a CGD or GT Donation Go Towards?

A donation towards MaxFund’s mission during this giving season goes directly towards the shelter, treatment, and care of Colorado’s most vulnerable dogs and cats. Things like surgeries, medications, behavioral training, food, and supplies are all that much more possible due to the generosity of your donation.

Looking for More Ways to Fundraise? Consider hosting a Giving Tree:

Get your community involved in the effort by hosting a Giving Tree at your business or storefront! Our Giving Trees spruce up your lobby while giving back to an incredible cause. Plus, new this year, each participating business is included on our Giving Tree Map. Interested parties should contact marketing@maxfund.org for more information.
