Adoption Process & Fees
We ask that when placing an application on an animal, you first have a particular cat or dog in mind. We do require that you meet the animal prior to adoption, and we require that everyone living in the household meets the animal that they are adopting. We do not hold applications for longer than two weeks, after that you will have to submit a new application.
We ask for three personal references that are not related to you. We ask for landlord information if you rent. We ask for vet information on any animals that live in the home with you or if you have animals that have passed away in the last year. The pets living in the home with you must be spayed/neutered, and must be current on distemper and rabies vaccinations. This includes cats even if they are indoors only. If you are looking at a dog, we do ask that you bring any other dogs in the home down to do a meet and greet to ensure they get along.

Adoption Fees
Our adoption fees are as follows:
- Kittens up to six months are $100
- Cats seven months and seven years are $75
- Senior cats eight years and older are $50
- FIV positive and FELV positive cats are $25
- Puppies under the age of six months are $200
- Dogs over six months and under eight years are $125
- Dogs over eight years of age are $75
All animals come spayed/neutered, are current on vaccinations excluding rabies, and have been micro-chipped prior to adoption. The application process can take several days, depending on how long it takes us to get in contact with your references, your landlord, and your veterinarian. Once your application has been approved we will call you and let you know and set up an approximate pick up time and date. If your application is denied you will not receive a call.
The animal must then be seen by a MaxFund vet for an exit exam. This can take several days so please be patient.
Please note that it is our policy that if you have children under the age of five you must select a dog or cat over the age of one year. No exceptions can be made to this rule. At this time we are also unable to do out of state adoptions.
In the unfortunate circumstance that any animal does not work out in your home after adoption, we require that you return the animal to MaxFund so that we can find the animal a new home.
We highly suggest calling the shelter before coming down to ensure the animal you are interested in is still available for adoption. Thank you for your interest in adopting a MaxFund cat or dog!
